Delta to add more flights to the Caribbean and Latin America

Delta Airlines has announced it will be adding more flights and routes at competitive fares for its Caribbean and Latin American service. This will make flying to warmer climates from the United States easier than ever.

Travelers can now choose to fly the airline from the United States to countries in South America for as little as $250 or to the Bahamas for a low fare of just $99. Booking tickets in advance will guarantee these lower airfares.

Delta has said that tickets, which can be purchased online or via telephone, bought before August 10 for a trip in the fall until December 12 with a minimum two-night stay, would come at a significantly discounted fare.

The company is hoping the new additions, along with new international routes, will bring more revenue and boost increasingly slower sales, particularly among the vacation market.

Experts believe that Delta, which has lost around $10 billion over the last four years, may have to file for bankruptcy this fall, along with several other airline companies, most notably Northwest Airlines.

The move also marks a shift in strategy with the company becoming more of an international carrier, possibly a result of fierce competition in the domestic market caused by discount airlines like Southwest.

However, many cheap airlines are now expanding internationally, particularly to Mexico and the Caribbean. This could complicate matters for Delta, but mean lower fares for travelers looking for a discount.
