Frontier to serve Dayton
Discount carrier Frontier Airlines will begin direct-light service between Dayton, Ohio and its hub in Denver, Colorado tonight.
Previously, the closest Frontier came to Dayton was Gary, Indiana and Akron, Ohio Now travelers can fly to Dayton from Denver in three hours non-stop.
The airline is promoting the new route with a $99 one-way introductory airfare, though reservations should be booked early in order to obtain the discount.
Frontier will start out with two daily flights to and from both cities, but is expected to add more flights later in the year if the route proves to be popular.
Airport spokesmen are confident that the flights will be mostly full and have said that advance bookings have been encouraging.
The jets serving Frontier's new route will have a passenger capacity of 70. The airline has said it will switch to a 114- or 132-seat Airbus, if there is enough demand.
Dayton International Airport has seen a decrease in passenger volume, and it is hoped that the new route from one of America's fastest-growing cities will boost Dayton's business.
Today Frontier will launch another new route to Fresno, California.
