Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines extending discount promotions

After recently extending the time passengers can use their frequent flyer miles from 12 months to 24 months, discount carrier Southwest Airlines is offering another discount scheme through its DING! internet product.

Subscribers to DING! receive discount Southwest airfares via email whenever an especially cheap airfare or promotion comes about.

Southwest is now offering a one-day sale for DING!'s customers. Airfares will be as low as $23 one-way and no higher than $94 until nine pm mountain time tonight.

Promotional fares like this have made Southwest airlines not only the most popular discount carrier in America, but also possibly the most popular airline in America. In recent years it has turned profits while the rest of the industry has suffered significant losses.

DING! can be downloaded off of Southwest Airlines' website for free. Customers enter their home airport and are then given automatic email updates on offers to and from their city as well as other national discounts.

Downloading the program takes a mere two minutes with a fast internet connection, and the only system requirements on a computer are an up to date version of Microsoft Windows, an internet connection, and JavaScript.

Currently DING! is unavailable to Macintosh users, but should be available soon.
