Southwest offers Fall coast to coast discounts
Discount carrier Southwest Airlines is kicking off the Fall season by announcing that it will offer cheaper airfares on its cross-country flights.
Fares will range from $39 to $149 for one-way flights, varying by destination and day of travel. Tickets must be booked at least 14 days in advance.
Some sample one-way discounts include Chicago, Illinois to San Diego, California for $39 and $59 for a flight from Chicago to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Joyce Rogge believes that the cheap airfares come at one of the best times of the year to travel.
She added: "We are offering not only system wide savings, but also spotlighting savings to the destinations our customers want the most."
Southwest is also offering special fares for one-way travel within California, the Midwest, the Pacific Northwest, Florida, and Houston.
Travelers looking for a discount airfare within any of those regions will find even cheaper flights. For example, flyers can now go between Seattle and Spokane, Washington State's largest cities for $39 one-way.
The Houston sale offers $89 one-way flights from Houston to Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.
Customers who book their tickets on the internet can subscribe to Southwest Airlines' Click 'n Save email updates. Weekly emails are sent to the user informing them of the latest sales and discounts.
Southwest Airlines is the United States' largest carrier in terms of domestic passengers. It currently serves 60 cities in 31 states, and should be expanding soon internationally to Mexico.
