United Airlines to sell memberships in preferred seating

United Airlines has announced it will begin selling membership for a new program offering customers preferred seating arrangements for both domestic and international flights.

This is excellent news for any flier looking to obtain a particular seating arrangement on the airline.

The program, called Economy Plus Access, offers those wishing to subscribe five extra inches of seating room and better access to the overhead compartment.

It also offers customers seats that are positioned at the front of the aircraft or wherever the subscriber might prefer to be seated.

The airline is offering three different levels of the program, with fares ranging from $299 to $749 depending on how much more amenity service is desired.

The first option, called Economy Plus has a fare of $299 per year and gives customers Economy Plus seating at the time of booking if it is available.

The second level Economy Plus Access' fare is $699 and offers clients Wi-Fi services, complimentary food and drinks and local calls at any United Red Carpet Club worldwide.

The final and most expensive option called Economy Plus Access with Premier Fast Track has the low fare of $749 and gives fliers all the services of the $699 option along with a fast-track way to obtain the benefits of the United Airlines Mileage Plus Premier status.

On heavily booked flights there is a chance that members will not get the exact seating they would like. That can be avoided by purchasing tickets well in advance.
