Continental adds service from hub

Continental Airlines has announced the expansion of one of its routes from its hub in Houston.

Starting on Monday the airline will begin a full jet service to Lafayette, Louisiana's Regional Airport, meaning that flights will now be served by a 116-passenger aircraft instead of a 50-seat regional jet.

Not only will this increase flight availability between the two cities, but the eight daily flights will also help businesspeople who need to be in either Houston or Lafayette for a meeting and want to return on the same day.

Perhaps most importantly, the expansion will help the displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina reach safer ground.

Pablo Mercado, a businessman from Houston told the Daily Advertiser: "All these people are trying to get somewhere and the roads are clogged up. There's more demand for flights now, as well, so the more options we have the better off we are."
