Continental announces non-stop Danish plans
Continental Airlines has applied for government approval to launch a new non-stop service from New York to Copenhagen.
If given the go ahead Boeing 757-200s are expected to depart New York and Copenhagen daily with approximate flying times of seven hours 55 minutes eastbound and eight hours 55 minutes west.
The 172-seat aircraft will carry 156 economy class passengers and 16 on Continental's award-winning BusinessFirst service.
If the service is approved Copenhagen will become the 27th city to be served by Continental's transatlantic flights.
Continental's vice president for Europe, the Middle East and India, Jim Summerford, said: "Continental already serves more European cities than any other US airline and Copenhagen, as one of the region's major hub airports, will be an important addition to our route network.
"We are very excited about the prospect of introducing our award-winning service to Danish travelers," he concluded.
This year over 330,000 US tourists are expected to visit Denmark and with 41 per cent of Danish companies registered in Copenhagen, Continental also expects it to be a popular business route. Copenhagen would become Continental's third Scandinavian destination, joining Oslo and Stockholm.
