North American Airlines adds flights to Ghana
North American Airlines, a subsidiary of World Air Holdings, is adding six non-stop flights between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Accra, Ghana.
The new flights were added for the holiday season and will begin service on December 15 and last until January 12, 2006. Airfares, if purchased far enough in advance, will be around $1,500.
Rob Binns, chief marketing officer for World Air Holdings, said the flights were added to meet high demand during the winter holidays.
He added: "The flights will supplement the weekly non-stop service we inaugurated in July, which offers the only non-stop flights between New York and Ghana."
North American Airlines bills itself as "America's greatest little airline", and was created to fill particular niches in the market.
Currently its nine jets offer direct flights between New York and Guyana, to the capital Georgetown. Airfares for flights between Georgetown and New York cost around $500.
The airline also specializes in transportation for military personnel and their families.

Gentlemen and women,
I believe there is an error in this story. Did you mean Georgetown, Guyana?
The capital of Ghana is Accra, from where a start up, Ghana International Airlines will, I presume, take over the Accra-Baltimore route that was formally flown by the now defunct Ghana Airways.

Dear Olu Sarr
Many thanks for your comment.
I did make an error on the flight to Guyana, sorry about that, I've corrected the story.
I've also included a link to North American Airlines so you can get more details directly from the company.
Kind regards
Craig

I don't think an error was made, guys. North American Airlines provides five non-stop flights between Georgetown, Guyana and New York, USA.
Guyana, Georgetown, is in South America compared to Accra, Ghana in West Africa. I think people sometimes get confused between Guyana and Ghana.
Renal, Guyana.

Renal, in this context, everyone knows we weren't talking about Guyana but Ghana instead. We do know that Guyana is in Georgetown and it's in South America. We know that. We were talking about Accra, Ghana; thus, an error was made as Craig admits.
