JetBlue adds flights to Florida from New York
Discount airline JetBlue is continuing its assault on East coast routes recently abandoned by Delta Airlines.
The airline has announced that this winter it will be adding up to 19 flights from John F Kennedy International airport to its five Floridian destinations of Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa and Fort Myers.
The additions mean that JetBlue will have 42 daily departures from JFK to Florida this winter.
JetBlue chief executive David Neeleman, said: "This year, with a 40 per cent increase in our winter Florida schedule, we've secured our position as New York's number one airline for snowbirds."
Airfares for the added flights will be discounted to $84 one-way if booked at least two weeks in advance. There is also a "walk up" fare, where customers can buy tickets on the day of travel, for $229 one-way.
