Major route expansion for JetBlue in Boston
Discount airline JetBlue has announced it will be expanding its flight schedule from several different airports across the country.
JetBlue customers will soon be able to fly direct from Boston's Logan International Airport to New York JFK, Austin, Nassau, Richmond and West Palm Beach.
All of the new flights will be added by April 6, 2006, but the first to be implemented will be Boston to New York and West Palm Beach routes, which will begin on November 8.
There will be a promotional discount airfare for the Boston to New York route of $25 each way until October 20. After that date airfares will range from $40 to $120 each way.
The additions effectively triple the number of destinations that Bostonians can reach through JetBlue.
The airline's chief executive officer David Neeleman, said: "Today we can continue to make good on our promises by announcing low-fare, high-quality service between Boston and our new JetBlue cities of Austin and Richmond, plus new non-stop service from Boston to Nassau, New York and West Palm Beach."
JetBlue also recently announced an expansion from its hub in New York, adding flights to Austin, Richmond, Buffalo and Burlington.
Previously JetBlue has announced one new route at a time, making this the most aggressive expansion to date.
