TransMeridian closes down
Atlanta-based TransMeridian Airlines has cancelled all flights with immediate effect, leaving passengers and staff wondering what to do next.
The airline said in a statement on its website, "passengers who purchased tickets on cancelled flights should contact their travel agent or credit card company".
Other companies, including Pace Airlines and JetBlue Airways, have offered to help stranded passengers if possible.
TransMeridian's closure has also seen around 500 people lose their jobs with the company saying it is working to help staff affected by the decision.
Unlike Delta Airlines that has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy which means it can still operate, TransMeridian is looking to sell off its assets so that it can pay its creditors.
