Columbus airport adds new restaurants
Port Columbus International Airport was previously known for its slim number of eating options, but those days appear to be over.
Columbus has recently added a Starbucks, Cheryl & Co, Wolfgang Puck Express, Great American Bagel, Pizzeria Uno and a Freshens Frozen Yogurt.
Lately, due to a number of developments in the aviation industry, more restaurants and eating centers are popping up not only in Columbus, but in airports across the country.
One factor is the move by airlines to reduce the meals they offer onboard, with some now offering little more than crackers and a small drink.
And many have opted for charging customers at rates that are usually much higher than average.
Another is that heightened security has resulted in many passengers having extra time on their hands as many arrive well before the flight anticipating long security screening lines.
Angie Tabor, spokeswoman for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, said: "Travelers want more food and retail options. Our quarterly surveys show we can improve our offerings."
