Alaska Airlines drinks to beating cancer
Travelers flying with Alaska Airlines can now help to fight breast cancer from the comfort of their seats.
The airline has announced that Athena bottled water will be its official water, available in-flight and at its airport lounges.
A proportion of profits from sales of the drink go to help women with breast cancer, with more than £100,000 donated so far to Seattle-based institutions carrying out breast cancer research.
"Serving a bottled water that also supports cancer research is an idea both our employees and customers have embraced," said Alaska's Gregg Saretsky.
The airline first began promoting Athena water in October, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Following a successful bid by the water company – which has so far sold more than six million bottles – Alaska Airlines has rewarded it with a longer-term contract.
The water will be available on all of Alaska Airlines' flights, covering almost 90 destinations from Alaska to Mexico.
