JetBlue's new Puerto Rican portal

As the temperatures climb this coming Spring, discount airline JetBlue heads south with a couple of new routes to Puerto Rico.

May 3 is the launch date for daily nonstop service from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to San Juan (SJU) and Aguadilla (BQN). The move is a bit of a departure for the cheap seat carrier, which stages most of its flights out of New York JFK.

To create a buzz for the new service, JetBlue is selling introductory cheap seats on the route. These deeper discount airfares have to be purchased by Saturday, February 11, and are good for travel between Wednesday, May 3 and Wednesday, May 24. The one-way fare is $84. The discount airline's regular rates range from $104 to $299 on the Orlando-San Juan, and Orlando-Aguadilla runs.

Jet Blue's first daily Orlando-San Juan flight departs 8:10am, and arrives San Juan at 10:55am. The second flight departs Orlando at 3:45 and arrives San Juan at 6:30pm.

Northbound, there's an 11:50am departure from San Juan that gets into Orlando at 3pm. Then there's an 8:40pm flight that arrives Orlando at 11:50pm.

There's just one daily departure from Orlando to Aguadilla. It is a very late flight indeed, leaving Orlando at 11pm and arriving BQN at 1:50am. The return flight departs Aguadilla quite early, at 4am. It gets to the gate at Orlando at 7:05am.

JetBlue currently operates 370 daily flights to 34 destinations. In-flight service is anything but bare bones, there's DIRECTV, first-run films on flights longer than two hours, and a really nice "Low Fare Sommelier" wine selection.
