Travelers give good marks to DFW's Terminal D
The holiday season provided passengers traveling through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport's (DFW) new International Terminal D with an opportunity to rate the new facility. Airport officials seem pleased with the results. They're also happy with the performance of Skylink, the rapier-like inter-terminal people mover that connects Terminal D to DFW's other four terminal complexes.
A whopping 90 per cent of travelers rated their experience at Terminal D as "good to outstanding"; 94 per cent of connecting passengers said their overall experience of Skylink was "good to outstanding"; and 80 per cent of Terminal D's departing passengers estimated that their wait time in security lines was less than five minutes.
Two-thirds of international passengers estimated that they spent less than five minutes in line at Passport Control; 79 per cent of arriving travelers rated Customs processing at International Terminal D to be superior to that at other airports around the world; and just over three-quarters (76 per cent) of the travelers surveyed found their experience with concessions in the new terminal to be "good to outstanding".
Finally, 87 per cent of travelers said the terminal's art program made their trip more pleasurable.
A recent visit by Cheapflights to D did, indeed, find art embedded in the very bones of the airy, sunlit terminal. As for Skylink, the elevated people mover is far faster and considerably more convenient than the old tinker toy system it replaces. The speeds reached between terminals is almost breathtaking at times, and the views it affords of this expansive aerodrome (as large as Manhattan) are extraordinary.
Dallas/Fort Worth's International Terminal D is American Airlines' prime international launch pad. From there AA fields nonstop services to Japan, Europe, Mexico, and Central and South America.

Terminal D is very nice, but baggage handling is another story. It took 45 minutes from deplaning an American Airlines flight before my bag was plopped onto carousel.

Traveling weekly through DFW and now using terminal D many times, I see a huge improvement compared to the other terminals at DFW.
This is especially true for arriving international flights.
Terminal D has set a new (much higher) level of customer service.
