American Airlines woos wedding parties

American Airlines is hoping to attract passengers traveling to weddings with its Wedding Event Travel program.

The program offers discounts of up to five per cent off American's fares when ten or more passengers travel to a wedding celebration, after-wedding party, or commitment ceremony.

"Recognizing that weddings are truly life events for customers, American Airlines was the first airline to create a wedding fare discount," the airline said in a statement.

To receive the discount, guests need only to enter the special reservation code when booking their flight on American's Web site. As well as the discount, the airline will provide complimentary wedding invitation inserts to inform out-of-town guests of the available discount.

Itineraries and origin cities may differ as long as the destination city is the same. The special discounts can be used on American Airlines, American Eagle and oneworld member airlines to more than 550 destinations worldwide, including the Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico, Asia, and Europe.

Customers using the program can also accumulate AAdvantage(R) miles on their flights. Requests for a group discount can be submitted via the Web site, or by calling 1-800-545-8193.
