Sex and the hotel minibar - Flying with Kaleel Sakakeeny
The hotel minibar is not what it used to be. It’s gotten sexier, and we mean that literally.
Some hotels including the Thompson in New York and James in Arizona are stocking their minibars with Intimacy Kits which, in case you need to ask, contain condoms, cinnamon mints, scented cloths, and even personal lubricants and feather ticklers. No, these are not your parents’ hotels. Maybe we can get pleasure rings and blindfolds at the Hotel Montalembert in gay Paris, but in middle America?
Mark Violante of the James hotel in Scottsdale says the kits are a great marketing device … and not at all risqué. “The Intimacy Kits play into the lifestyles of our guests and we’re clearly anticipating their need. They’ve been very well received,” he says.
We report that the Sagamore Hotel in Miami offers a Shag Bag with Pinnacle Horny Goat Weed. Marketers say it is a natural aphrodisiac.
And the Montalembert in Paris? Its petite Love Box ($19.50) contains colored condoms and an assortment of lubrication and massage oils.
Do we dare say “oui”?
