Allegiant links Abilene with Las Vegas
There will soon be a quick new way to get to Las Vegas (LAS) from the west Texas town of Abilene (ABI) – one that doesn’t involve changing planes at Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) or Houston’s Bush Intercontinental (IAH).
Discount airline Allegiant Air plans to launch nonstop Abilene to Las Vegas service on June 9. To underscore the fact that it’s a bonafide cheap seater, the carrier is offering a limited one-way introductory fare of $69 on the route when you book via its Web site.
Flights will operate twice weekly between Abilene Regional Airport and Las Vegas McCarran International. Fridays and Mondays, 150-seat, all-coach MD-80s depart Abilene at 7:20pm, and pull up to the gate at McCarran at 7:45pm. Return trips leave Las Vegas at 2:20pm, and arrive at Abilene at 6:40pm.
If you’re looking to book the introductory fare, you’ll have to do so before April 26. Travel is valid through November 9. This rate is not available on all flights. After the intro period, regular one-way discount airfares on the Abilene to Las Vegas route will range from $89 to $199 one-way.
Allegiant specializes in linking smaller, under-served cities across the land to this country’s twin entertainment magnets: Las Vegas and Orlando. The cheap seater currently provides scheduled service from 32 U.S. markets to Las Vegas, and from 15 cities to Orlando.
