ATA launches new California-Honolulu route

A new connection to Hawaii starts today (Friday, April 28) from Ontario International Airport (ONT) in California.

ATA Airlines will operate a daily, nonstop flight to Honolulu from Ontario, using the ever-popular Boeing 737 as part of its "enhanced West Coast and Hawaii flying program".

The airline will also offer connections to the smaller Hawaiian islands of Maui and Hilo, via Oakland.

"ATA is excited about our entry into Ontario because it expands our codeshare with Southwest Airlines and makes new opportunities available for affordable Hawaii travel to thousands of customers nationwide," said Josef Loew, ATA Senior VP for Scheduled Service.

Paul S. Leon, the Mayor of Ontario, welcomed ATA, saying it would be a beneficial partnership for both.

"The continued increase of daily flights and new airlines at ONT, as well as the construction and expansion of the new onsite facilities, is helping put ONT on track to become Southern California's second major international gateway," he said.

The nonstop flight will depart Ontario at 7.05am and arrive in Honolulu at 9.55am. On the return leg, the flight will leave Honolulu at 2.35pm and arrive in Ontario at 11.05pm. Sale fares start from $169 each way based on a seven-day advance purchase (coach class). Book by May 2 and travel through June 15.
