Free AA tickets end up on eBay

Vouchers for free American Airlines (AA) flights given out at the recent Mavericks-Clippers game in Dallas have wound up on eBay and other Web sites. (see Mavs fans will fly for free).

The tickets are good for travel through November and are valid between Dallas Love Field and four other cities: St Louis, Kansas City, Austin, and San Antonio.

On eBay, the tickets are being sold for $15 and up and must be redeemed by Saturday (April 29).

A spokesman for AA, Tim Wagner, said that normally the transfer of such promotional coupons would not be possible, but that mistakes had been made when handing them out.

"Usually our vouchers are non-transferable and we do have corporate security … to make sure they're not sold," he told The Star Telegram.

"But in this case, there's not much we can do about it because we don't know who exactly was at the game and received them," Wagner added.

As of Tuesday afternoon (April 25), around 1,650 of the 20,000 vouchers handed out had been redeemed, the airline confirmed.
