Alaska gives Red Bull wings
Red Bull has made its international debut as an in-flight beverage selection. The energy drink is to be made available to passengers on all 500 of Alaska Airlines’ daily flights throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A can of Red Bull will be priced at $5 for travelers in coach and will be complimentary for first-class passengers.
It is the latest in a line of pioneering beverage ventures from the airline, following its offering of Alaskan Amber beer and Athena bottled water on flights from last fall.
"We're always looking at ways to give our customers more value and to differentiate our airline from the rest," said Gregg Saretsky, Alaska Airlines Executive Vice President of Marketing and Planning.
"Many of our customers are Red Bull aficionados and we're delighted to give them the unique chance to enjoy it at cruising altitude."
Red Bull, which contains the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee, has been distributed internationally for nearly 15 years and is reportedly popular with athletes, businesspeople, and others with a hectic lifestyle.
