Continental to Cologne/Bonn
Finally, there is a way to fly nonstop from the United States to Cologne/Bonn (CGN) without having to change planes. Continental Airlines has just launched daily nonstop service from its megahub at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to one of the key political and economic areas in Germany.
Continental is flying the transatlantic route using a 172-passenger narrowbody 757-200. The craft is fitted with 16 BusinessFirst and 156 economy seats. Up front seats are extra wide, and boast 55 inches of pitch (legroom essentially). The headrests are adjustable, the food gourmet, and the in-flight entertainment right there at your seat in the form of personal video screens.
CO Flight 110 departs Newark daily at 6:45pm, pulling up to the gate at Cologne/Bonn at 8:10am the following day. The return leg, CO 111, leaves Cologne/Bonn at 10:35am, and gets to the gate at Newark at 1:20pm. That allows ample time to connect out of Newark to a slew of Continental destinations and still make it home the same night.
The Cologne/Bonn foray is not the only new international service Continental starts in May. Later this month the carrier intends to start flying nonstop to Barcelona (BCN) and Copenhagen (CPH).
To sweeten the Cologne launch, OnePass frequent flier members who book between May 10 and July 31, will get 2,000 bonus miles. To register for the deal, go to Continental and use the promotion code 58037.
