Headed for Copenhagen? Consider Continental
Continental Airlines continues its international expansion out of Newark (EWR) with new nonstop service to Copenhagen (CPH).
With its entry into the market, two carriers now fly between Newark Liberty International Airport and Copenhagen (Continental and SAS) and with the addition of CPH to its route system, Continental now fields transatlantic service to 28 cities in 15 countries.
Continental’s Copenhagen service complements nonstops out of Newark to the two other prime Scandinavian airportals: Stockholm (ARN) and Oslo (OSL). Like Stockholm and Oslo, Continental’s Copenhagen service is via a narrowbody 757-200. The twinjet is fitted with 16 BusinessFirst, and 156 economy seats.
If you’re planning a trip to CPH, the new schedule is as follows: Continental Flight 122 departs Newark daily at 5:35pm, arriving at 7:30 the following morning. The return leg is CO123. It pushes back from the gate at CPH at 9:00am, and arrives at Newark at 11:45am. For those keeping count, the eastbound flight takes about eight hours, while the westbound trip takes almost nine hours. That’s because westbound transatlantic flights are into the jetstream, the airborne river of air that either speeds or slows sojourns.
To help attract traffic to the new route, Continental is offering a special 2,000-mile OnePass frequent-flier bonus to program members who book and travel to Copenhagen through July 31.
