JetBlue is Maine player in New York

Low-cost airline JetBlue, OAG Low-Cost Airline of the Year, yesterday added a new route to its northeastern service.

The new nonstop flights are between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Portland International Jetport in Maine (PWM), making JetBlue the second-largest carrier in Portland, based on seat capacity.

A special introductory each-way fare of $59, excluding taxes and charges, is being offered by the airline to celebrate its new route, which will operate four times a day.

Regular fares between the two airports will be slightly more expensive, ranging from $69 to $159 (also excluding extra fees), but still 70 per cent cheaper than they were before JetBlue's arrival, the airline claims.

Flights will depart from New York at 9.25am, 2.05pm, 5.35pm, and 8.50pm. Planes returning to JFK from Portland will leave Maine at 7.10am, 11.20am, 4.00pm, and 7.35pm. Flight duration is approximately one hour and 20 minutes in both directions.
