Innovata launches new multi-airline scheduling tool
U.S. data aggregator Innovata has introduced a new timetable detailing flight schedules for 900 airlines worldwide to help passengers plan routes and connections.
According to reports on TravelMole.com, the new Web-based service - called Quicktrip - will show flights between 3,500 airports across the globe.
Innovata signed an agreement with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2003 to market such a tool, based on the weekly updates of the SRS Database, a global publication of worldwide airlines' schedules.
The company's Head of the Aviation Division, Richard Thorne, said that the tool would be a popular addition to travel planning on the Web and would be free to access from many Internet affiliate travel-related Web sites and give a useful portal for consumers.
Thorne also described the "very enthusiastic" reaction of airlines and airports to the interactive Flight Mapping Service, a separate innovation which can make the process of comparing and booking flights easier for business and consumer partners alike.
The Flight Mapping Service is a clickable map, illustrating flight routes and schedules and containing hyperlinks to booking engines and airline timetables for destinations across the world.
