JetBlue's new service to Sarasota/Bradenton
Discount airline JetBlue is bound for SRQ – Sarasota-Bradenton, Florida. Once-daily service out of the carrier’s New York JFK hub takes wing September 21. Seats are cheap – both initially and down the road.
JetBlue is charging $79 one-way from launch through October 31. To get in on this discount airfare, you’ve got to buy by July 18. Regular fares on the run range between $99 and $299 each way.
Sarasota/Bradenton makes the discount airline’s seventh destination in the Sunshine State. If you’re flying north to New York, know that you’ll be able to connect at Kennedy to 23 other JetBlue cities. Among them: Boston (BOS); Denver (DEN); Las Vegas (LAS); Long Beach (LGB) (which serves the Los Angeles Basin); Oakland (OAK); Ontario, California (ONT); Sacramento (SMF); and Portland, Oregon (PDX).
JetBlue operates its largest aircraft on the JFK-SRQ run – an A320. The craft is nicely outfitted for the flight, with leather seats, decent legroom, DIRECTV©, and other accoutrements. One of the neatest things about the low-fare, high-frills service is the carrier’s Low fare Sommelier. Josh Wesson of Best Cellars helps pick the in-flight vintages.
