Tahiti tugging at your heartstrings? Take off

That’s the fare from Los Angeles International (LAX) to Papeete (PPT). The overwater passage is via one of Air Tahiti Nui’s (airline code TN) new A340-300s. If you want to fly from the East Coast (New York JFK) to this Polynesian paradise, the round-trip discount airfare is $858.
The $658 and $858 rates are for travel from September 1 through November 30. If you want to fly from August 18 through August 31, the fares are $698 out of LAX, and $898 from JFK. Be sure you’re booking V class.
To take advantage of the August discount airfares, you’re going to have to book soon – by June 30. If you intend to fly after September 1, the deadline is July 31.
Tickets have to be issued no later than seven days after booking. Note: these discount fares do not qualify for frequent-flier miles.
