Aloha’s free birthday tickets

HawaiiIt’s a deal that’s too good to pass up. Aloha Airlines will fly you free on your birthday next year. Here’s what you’ve got to do to cash in: travel on any Aloha flight on July 26, and be sure to keep your boarding pass stub. Don’t throw it away. Next year, in 2007, start your free trip on your birthday, and return within seven days.

The free flight is terrific, but it only covers interisland trips, say from Honolulu (HNL) to Maui (OGG). No free birthday flights to and from the Mainland.

When you make the qualifying flight on July 26 you’ll get an “Our Birthday is Your Birthday” (this year mark’s Aloha’s 60th) certificate. Attach your boarding pass stub to it and wait a bit.

To redeem the certificate, call Aloha reservations at 1-800-367-5250 to book your free round-trip interisland trip. The reservationist will ask you to mail in your boarding-pass stub, and a copy of a government-issued document verifying your birth date. Then, Aloha sends you an e-ticket.

Save for some other restrictions that may apply, that’s it.

July 26 marks Aloha’s 60th year of service. Back in 1946, the carrier first flew between Honolulu and Hilo (ITO) via Kahului, Maui. Today it offers an array of interisland services, as well as Mainland flights to Oakland (OAK), Sacramento (SMF), Orange County (SNA), San Diego (SAN), Las Vegas (LAS), and Reno (RNO).
