Delta offers special rates for evacuees
People making emergency return flights from troubled Lebanon have been given a helping hand by Delta Air Lines this week.
The carrier has announced a special extension to cheaper fares out of Baltimore-Washington International Airport to help out stranded travelers who have been forced to leave the Mideast in the wake of the political unrest gripping the region.
Several passengers were forced to book last-minute flights in fleeing the area and are consequently restricted in where they can get connections to from the U.S. airports they have landed at.
To ease the pressure on displaced evacuees, Delta is offering a 50 percent discount on coach class walk-up fares for one-way travel out of Baltimore where Delta's lower fares are not available.
The airline serves a total of 211 destinations throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands from the hub, giving customers plenty of choice for their internal flights when back on U.S. soil.
"Delta people have long been known for their willingness to help during difficult times," said Glen Hauenstein, Delta Executive Vice President.
"We are again pleased to offer assistance to customers planning last-minute travel upon their arrival into the United States from Lebanon."
