JetBlue announces new Carolina route

Low-cost airline JetBlue is causing a stir in the Carolinas, launching a new route between Raleigh-Durham Airport and Boston Logan International Airport with a special introductory fare.

The announcement comes on the same day that the budget carrier began its four-a-day nonstop service between Raleigh-Durham and its home airport – New York-JFK.

The new Boston service will begin on October 18. The introductory fare of $74 each way will be available for purchase up to August 3 for travel completed by November 15. After this time, regular fares from Raleigh-Durham to Boston will cost between $94 and $209 each way, excluding taxes.

Flights from Raleigh-Durham to Boston leave at 5.05pm and arrive one hour, 50 minutes later at 6.55pm. The return leg is a two-hour afternoon affair, departing Logan International at 2.30pm, touching down in North Carolina at 4.30pm.

"Our customers continue to ask for more destinations and we're delivering," said JetBlue CEO David Neeleman.

"As JetBlue grows, it makes sense for us to serve the research triangle area, one of the fastest growing communities in the country."
