Miss China lends support to new route
In order to help promote the case for nonstop service between the southeastern United States and the growing Chinese market, Delta Air Lines has drafted in the help of Miss China Universe, Ying Hui Gao.
Delta has said that it will apply for service between China and its main hub, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, when the U.S. Department of Transportation begins to accept applications for a new entrant into the market for 2008.
This will be the earliest date that a new carrier can start flying to China as part of the agreement between the Asian nation and the U.S.
Gao is in favor of a link between her country and the American southeast: "It's vitally important that more American companies in more regions of this country invest in and connect with China, especially from the U.S. southeast."
"While business traffic between our two countries continues to grow, the United States is still very mystical to many Chinese citizens. The time is right to provide more connections to China so leisure travelers can experience all that both of our countries have to offer."
