United boosts Pacific service

Flights from the United States to the Asia Pacific region will grow by 40 departures per week over the next nine months as United Airlines adds to its westward schedule.

The airline will initiate service between its hub at Washington Dulles and Tokyo Narita, which will replace its soon-to-be-defunct Tokyo to New York (John F. Kennedy International) flights.

Flights on the route will leave Washington at 12.20pm, arriving at 4.25pm the following day. Return flights will depart Tokyo at 4.55pm, landing at Dulles at 3.25pm, the same day. The route will be launched on October 28.

In addition to new flights to Tokyo, United is also scheduled to restart its San Francisco to Taipei service on April 1, 2007.

Flights on this route will be on a Boeing 747 Jumbo, leaving the Bay Area at 1pm, landing in Taiwan at 5.20pm the following day. The return leg is a same-day service, taking off from Taipei at 12.20pm and landing in the Californian hub at 8.24am.

A further development to United's San Franciscan service is the extension of flights to Seoul from seasonal to year-round.

The route has been expanded to cater for increasing demand to the South Korean capital in northern California, the same reason the airline plans to add three more weekly flights to Hong Kong from San Francisco.

The expansion of the San Francisco to Hong Kong service also begins on April 1, 2007. San Francisco to Seoul flights are available now.
