Air Canada’s new Edmonton–London link

Previously, if you lived in Edmonton, Alberta (YEA) and wanted to fly to London, the best bet was to connect over nearby Calgary (YYC). Soon, you won’t have to. You’ll be able to fly nonstop.

Air Canada plans to launch nonstop Edmonton to London Heathrow (LHR) service on October 31. Initially, this will be a thrice-weekly affair with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Air Canada intends to do it daily beginning April 1, 2007.

Air Canada is timing the Edmonton to Heathrow sojourn for convenient connections to and from Fort McMurray (YMM), Grande Prairie (YQU), and Yellowknife (YZF). AC Flight 898 departs Edmonton at 6:35pm (8:25 Tuesdays) and arrives LHR at 10:10am the following day. AC899 leaves Heathrow at 12:35pm, and arrives Edmonton at 2:30pm.

On the English end of the equation - at London Heathrow- Air Canada has timed its new Edmonton service to offer good connections to and from its Star Alliance partner airlines, which offer nonstop service to Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.
