Delta’s Jacksonville, NC jaunt – discount deal

As this nation’s reliance on the military grows, so too do air links to military bases. Recently, Delta Connection announced nonstop service from its Atlanta (ATL) megahub to Killeen (ILE), Texas, home of Fort Hood. Now the carrier is forging a new route: Atlanta to Jacksonville, North Carolina (OAJ). The city houses the United States Marine Corps Base at Camp Lejeune.

To introduce the new twice-daily service, which starts December 11, Delta Connection is offering a $99 one-way discount airfare from Atlanta. This deal is predicated on a 21-day advance round-trip purchase, and has to be bought by September 12 online or through a travel agent. Taxes and fees aren’t included.

Other sample introductory fares reflect Camp Lejeune’s connection to key military areas across the country:

- Tampa (TPA) $99
- San Antonio (SAT) $109
- Los Angeles (LAX) $179
- San Diego (SAN) $179

Delta Connection’s new Jacksonville, NC to Atlanta link will give travelers another option to get to Camp Lejeune. Currently the only air service is via US Airways, which offers flights to its Charlotte (CLT) hub.
