Formula 109 – JetBlue’s Florida forays
Call it “Formula 109”. By President’s Day 2007, that’s how many flights discount airline JetBlue plans to loft each day from the northeast to Florida.
JetBlue already lays claim to fielding the most flights per day between New York City and Florida. It sends 77 jets per day scurrying from the Big Apple to Florida. By President’s Day 2007, the discount airline says it will top the Boston to Florida market in terms of daily nonstops, with 27 flights each day.
The 109 daily Florida forays will depart from five northeastern aerodromes: New York LaGuardia (LGA), Newark Liberty International (EWR), Boston Logan (BOS), Washington Dulles (IAD), and — of course — the discount airline’s home base at New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK).
On the other end of the line, down south, JetBlue’s airplanes pull up to gates at seven airports: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Jacksonville (JAX), Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ), Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), and West Palm Beach (PBI).
In addition to fielding frequent Florida flights from New York, Washington, and Boston, JetBlue also offers interesting “hub-bypass” service from upstate New York, specifically out of Syracuse (SYR). That’s an Orlando nonstop.
JetBlue stuffs its fleet of shiny new A320s and Embraer 190s full of amenities: leather seats, DIRECTV®, FOX InFlight™ Films on longer flights, Dunkin’ Donuts® Coffee, and Low Fare Sommelier wines from Best Cellars®.
