Frontier’s new Akron-Canton launchpad
Accept the fact that airport ambience means a lot. It sets the tone for the flight to come. To that end, Frontier Airlines’ fliers out of Akron-Canton (CAK) should feel pretty good about things.
The expansive carrier with all the neat wildlife painted on the tail (perhaps the most innovative livery in the airline industry) has just moved into new digs at Akron-Canton, specifically Gate 11 on the airport’s spacious, sun-suffused new dual-level concourse.
Frontier offers twice-daily nonstop service to its Denver (DEN) hub from Akron-Canton aboard brand new Airbus A318s.
To celebrate the move to new quarters at Akron-Canton, Frontier is giving customers free breakfast treats in the morning, and cookies in the afternoon.
The biggest treat for Akron-Canton fliers, however, continues to be its fares. The Department of Transportation consistently ranks CAK’s airfares as among the lowest in the nation. A lot of that is due to the presence of discount airline AirTran Airways, which also operates out of the new concourse.
While you’re waiting to catch your flight from the new facilities, pull out the laptop and access the airport’s free wireless high-speed Internet. Hungry? The new concourse already sports an Arby’s. By mid-September, Great Lakes Brewing Company plans to have opened up shop.
