John causes Mexico schedule changes
As the hurricane season gets into full swing in the Gulf, more airlines have announced fee waivers as a result of inclement weather in the region.
After Hurricane Ernesto roared through Florida earlier this week, it is now the turn of Hurricane John to disrupt passengers' plans at several Mexican resorts.
United Airlines, which flies to Cabo/Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlan, has decided to waive change fees and minimum/maximum-stay requirements and blackout-date restrictions on several flights.
Customers who purchased travel on any United, United Express or Ted flights on or before August 29 for travel from August 30 through September 2 can make any changes they feel are necessary to their itinerary before midnight on the day of travel.
Rescheduled travel must originate on or before September 9. Read the travel advisory in full.
US Airways has also withdrawn its restrictions for passengers traveling to, from, or through Cabo/Los Cabos, Manzanillo, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, and Acapulco from August 30 through September 1. Rearranged travel must begin before September 8.
Customers on US Airways will also be eligible to apply for a full refund or, if their flight is delayed or cancelled, may be accommodated on an alternative airline in some cases.
As with United, US Airways has said that it will waive change fees that normally apply during this period. See full details here.
