Akron/Canton's new Fort Lauderdale connection
Folks in the Upper Midwest love Florida especially in the dreary, deep dead of winter. Discount airline AirTran Airways understands. The carrier is launching service from Akron/Canton (CAK) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) on January 4, 2007.
The discount airline's FLL flights will mark the fourth Florida destination from Akron/Canton. Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), and Fort Myers (RSW) are the others. Overall, Fort Lauderdale makes for seven cities served from the Ohio aerodrome.
The southbound flight departs CAK at 8:40am, and gets to Fort Lauderdale at 11:30am. The northbound departure pushes back from the gate at FLL at 12:35pm, and arrives Akron/Canton at 3:25pm.
AirTran's presence at Akron/Canton has helped render the airport the sixth least expensive airport in the nation according to the Department of Transportation's fourth quarter 2005 Domestic Airline Fares Consumer Report.
AirTran may offer discount airfares, and Akron/Canton convenience, but neither skimps on amenities in the process. AirTran flies new, dual-class Boeing jets; and CAK recently opened a new sun-suffused four-gate concourse, from which AirTran's flights depart.
