Cancun? Can do – for $99
Now that the Department of Transportation has blessed discount airline JetBlue's bid to fly nonstop from New York Kennedy (JFK) to Cancun (CUN), fliers can cash in on a tremendous introductory deal: $99, one-way.
To land this discount airfare from Metropolis to the land of the Mayans, you’ll have to book by September 28. Travel has to be completed by December 15.
For $10 more ($109), the discount airline is selling connecting seats to Cancun from Boston (BOS), Burlington (BTV), Buffalo (BUF), Rochester (ROC), Syracuse (SYR), Pittsburgh (PIT); and Washington, D.C. Dulles (IAD).
The launch date for JetBlue’s Cancun service is November 30. That gives you a two-week window to fly on this deep discount airfare. After that, the rates are still really reasonable - $149 to $399, each way.
All the fares we quoted, discount and otherwise, are one-way. They entail no round-trip purchase. Neither taxes nor fees are included. They're extra.
JetBlue’s Mayan migration is timed nicely to afford fliers maximum time on the beach. The southbound flight pushes back from the gate at JFK at 8:15am, getting to the resort city’s international airport at 11:25am. Grab lunch, change clothes and head for the surf. The return, northbound leg leaves Cancun at 12:20pm, getting to back to Kennedy by 5:05pm. If you’re a New York City resident, that’s just in time to have dinner at home and get ready for the next workday. If you’re connecting to another JetBlue City in the near Northeast, the arrival time is also nicely timed.
