Continental plans Cleveland connection for Europe
Continental Airlines has announced plans to provide the first ever nonstop service from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to the city of Paris.
The airline plans to have tickets for the new route on sale by the summer of 2007, ready to fly for the first time the following year.
At first the route will be a seasonal offering, the airline said, although if demand for flights to the "City of Love" from Continental's Ohio hub is strong enough then flight offerings could be extended.
In addition to Paris' attraction as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, Charles de Gaulle International Airport also offers Continental passengers a wide range of onward destinations across the world through the airline's SkyTeam global alliance.
Local Cleveland officials hailed the new service, saying it would bring prosperity and provide a substantial economic boost to the area by connecting the city directly with the international community.
Cleveland Hopkins is one of Continental Airlines' major hubs on its route network, both domestically and for its vast offering of global flights.
