go! announces record ticket sales
Inter-island Hawaiian flier go! has announced its best day of sales to date after it announced its cheapest-ever ticket offer.
The Mesa-owned airline unveiled its Hero fares, starting at $19 one-way between Honolulu and Lihue, Kahului, Kona, and Hilo, late last week and ticket sales have taken off since then, the airline says.
"We have received an absolutely tremendous response to the Hero fare," said go!'s Chief Marketing Officer Joe Bock, who noted that the increase in traffic to the airline's Web site had also boosted frequent-flier sign-ups and other Web-based products.
"Our mission statement is to bring the friends, families and business people of Hawaii together and that is exactly what we're doing. We couldn't have asked for a better outcome."
The Hero fares are still available for purchase through Saturday (September 30th).
go! has been mixing it up in the aviation price war in Hawaii since it started operations in June 2006, consistently undercutting its rivals as it drives for a foot-hold in the market.
This latest fare sale has already prompted an angry reaction from Hawaiian Airlines, who accused go! of attempting to "eliminate competition in Hawaii" with its low short-term offers.
