Heartland deal – Mesa puts Joplin on sale

Mesa Airlines is putting seats to America’s heartland on sale, specifically those from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Joplin, Missouri (JLN). The discount airfare: $148, round-trip.

You’ll have to buy by October 31, and fly by November 17. Seats are limited, and a one-night stay is entailed. That limits its use by business travelers who want to do day trips. Neither taxes nor fees are included in the deal.

Mesa launches twice-daily Dallas/Fort Worth to Joplin flights on October 5. The commuter/regional carrier already operates a trio of daily round-trips to Joplin from Kansas City International (MCI). The DFW flights are operated by Mesa’s Air Midwest subsidiary; the Kansas City service under US Airways Express colors.

Like a lot of commuter/regional carriers, Mesa is a bit of a stealth airline. Its aircraft often fly under the colors of major airlines such as US Airways Express, Delta Connection, and United Express. Additionally, Mesa recently launched interisland service in Hawaii under the go! label.

In all, Mesa operates 187 aircraft to 173 cities in 46 states, the District of Columbia, Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
