Sarasota sojourn - JetBlue’s introductory deal
Discount airline JetBlue’s New York (JFK) to Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ) route just got off the ground, and with it comes an introductory one-way discount airfare of $59.
To revel in this Florida fare you have to book by October 5, and travel by December 15. The deal entails a 14-day advance purchase, and is good for passage only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Neither taxes nor fees are included. They’re extra.
Regular fares on the JFK to Sarasota/Bradenton run will range from $99 to $299.
Airports across the country are fighting to lure high-frills, low-fare JetBlue to their tarmacs. “We’re very excited about the start of service,” says Sarasota/Bradenton President and CEO Frederick Piccolo. “It is a carrier that the community and the airport have desired for a long time.”
Continental Airlines is the only other carrier that offers nonstop service from the New York metro area to Sarasota/Bradenton. It fields flights from Newark’s Liberty International Airport (EWR).
Initially, JetBlue is flying a single daily round-trip, this with an A320. Between February 15, 2007 and April 30, 2007 (the heart of high season) the discount airline will loft a second daily flight on the route.

Still waiting for the route from Providence Rhode Island to Fort Myers, Florida. At least in season you are missing a huge market of travelers from RI, Conn. and Mass. Everyone I have talked to mentions they would love for you to fly from that destination.
