Aeromexico adds service to two key U.S. cities
Headed to Mexico City from either Orlando of Houston? Your options are about to open up.
Aeromexico boosts flights from Orlando International (MC) to Mexico City’s Benito Juarez International on November 20. Instead of four weekly departures, service goes daily. December 11 through January 7 the Mexican flag carrier will field a pair of daily MCO – MEX flights, just to accommodate seasonal demand.
The non-seasonal flight departs Orlando at 5pm daily, and pulls up to the gate in Mexico City at 7:40pm. The return circuit leaves MEX at 7:10pm, arriving MCO at 9:50pm.
Out of Bush Houston Intercontinental (IAH), Aeromexico lays on a third daily nonstop to Mexico City effective, November 6. The new flight is an early morning departure, pushing back from the gate at IAH at 7am, and arriving Benito Juarez at 9:20am. The return flight is a dinnertime departure. It leaves Mexico City at 6:50pm, and arrives Houston at 9pm.
Taken in tandem, the early morning southbound, and evening northbound flights allow passengers, at least in theory, to make a day trip - down and back.
The practical problem with that, however, is Mexico City’s infamous traffic. Vehicular delays are endemic in the Federal District. It can be a bit daunting to make an appointment, have lunch and get back out to the airport in time to catch the dinnertime departure.
