ATA unveils new Visa card

A new credit-card option from Barclays is now available to ATA Airlines customers, which will allow them to build up miles and discounts.

For every $3 spent on the ATA Visa Signature Card, holders will receive one ATA Travel Award point to be credited to their related ATA frequent-flier account.

New customers will also receive 3,000 bonus points - the equivalent of a free Companion Award ticket on ATA - when they first use the card for either a purchase or a balance transfer.

Other benefits of the card include priority boarding at all ATA gates between New York and Honolulu, Hawaii, and an annual Companion Certificate, which entitles the holder to an additional ticket on the route they are flying at a deeply discounted rate.

Some sample fares that can be garnered from using the special coupon include round-trip travel for the second passenger between Chicago Midway and Cancun for $100 or any West Coast airport to Hawaii for $150 round-trip. Prices do not include taxes.

"There is intense competition for credit card customers and we worked hard to find a partner able to offer ATA's loyal customers all the advantages of a premier credit card with added travel benefits and conveniences," Josef Loew, ATA's Senior Vice-President of Scheduled Service, said of the Visa deal.
