Big Sky to link Midway to Illinois capital

A new direct service between Chicago's Midway International Airport and Springfield, Illinois, (Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport) has been announced by Montana-based carrier Big Sky Airlines.

The route will be launched on December 3 and will consist of four weekday round-trips plus two round-trip flights each on Saturday and Sunday.

Flight duration is approximately one hour in each direction and Big Sky will fly passengers in its traditional 19-seat Beechcraft turboprops, which have served the airline well on its short-haul commuter flights between states in the north-west.

Officials for the airline said they hoped to attract custom from the commuter market that currently travels by driving the three hour interstate route between the two Illinois cities.

An introductory fare of $79 one-way is available to encourage interest in the flights.
