Pan Am Clipper to pilot Elmira-Florida route
Business has been booming for Pan Am Clipper Connection at Elmira-Corning Regional Airport in New York State, resulting in the airline investigating new route options from the north-east airfield.
The airline will operate a two-and-a-half month trial period of twice-weekly flights to Orlando's Sanford International, starting November 19 through the end of January 2007.
An average round-trip ticket for the route will cost around $300 and the service is being brought in as a result of customer demand, just five weeks after Pan Am Clipper Connection first began flying out of the Big Flats airport.
Airport Manager Ann Clarke told local ABC news channel WENY-36: "Because it's our top destination, a lot of folks will come back to Elmira that are driving to other airports and are looking for the opportunity of direct flights as opposed to going to a hub."
Clarke said she hopes the route is a popular one so that the service may be continued beyond its initial ten-week stint.
