Alaska unveils new Make-A-Wish aircraft
A new Disney-themed airplane livery has been launched by Alaska Airlines and has been christened "Spirit of Make-A-Wish".
The Boeing 737 aircraft features a giant blue Genie character, Robin Williams' character from the animated film Aladdin, against a blue and white background. The livery also features the famous Disneyland Castle on the tailfin.
Alaska's new plane design is inspired by the fact that the plane's maiden voyage will take six Make-A-Wish children from Seattle Tacoma International Airport to the Disneyland Resort in California.
The airline has supported the Make-A-Wish charity for two decades and provides air transportation for around 100 children each year. The nonprofit organization grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions and consists of 69 different chapters throughout the United States.
"We are deeply honored to have the opportunity to help make children's wishes come true, especially at a time when they face health challenges," said Bill Ayer, Alaska's Chairman and CEO.
"We applaud the special work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and hope this unique aircraft will inspire further support for the important task of bringing joy to a child's life during a difficult time."
