Deep in the heart of Texas - Aeromexico's Austin service
Talk about a needed nonstop. Aeromexico is launching nonstop Austin (AUS) to Mexico City (MEX) service December 15. When this flight takes wing, it will be the only nonstop between Texas' capital city and the Federal District, a vital new route. It gives Austin fliers the option of not having to connect via San Antonio (SAT), Bush Houston Intercontinental (IAD), or Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW) to get to the Mexican capital.
This won't be a daily deal, but there are enough flight frequencies to formulate some sensible travel plans. Southbound, the flight departs Austin-Bergstrom International Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 2:45pm. The return leg leaves Mexico City's Benito Juarez International at 11:15am.
Aeromexico affords ample connection opportunities beyond Mexico City. The carrier, a member of the worldwide SkyTeam alliance, serves more than 40 cities in Mexico alone.
Flights from Austin to Mexico City will offer two tiers of transit: Clase Premier, a first-class product; and coach. This is interesting: free cocktails are served in the back of the airplane, as well as up front.

I just want to clarify that Bush Houston Intercontinental airport code is IAH not IAD. Thanks

I heard on the news this would happen in November, but read on the Austin airport's Web site that it has been delayed until the spring of 2008. THey also said very cheap tickets would be up for grabs soon. Does anyone know about any of this?

Yeah, I'd like to know when the CHEAP flights are coming. I just called Aeromexico and they laughed at me! But I saw it on the news.... (Don't believe all that you hear.)
The cheapest flight was $435. No way. Also, the person on the phone said that they are discontinuing some flights and therefore he could not get my original flight dates. "Because they begin their vacation"? What?
Arrrggg.
