United lays on lots more international seats
The mantra out there in the airline industry is that profitability lies in forging new international connections. United Airlines doesn't disagree. The nation's second-largest carrier is going daily on one key transoceanic route, and launching a code-share connection on another.
Starting March 25, 2007, United's Chicago O'Hare (ORD) to Shanghai (PVG) service will be a daily affair, aboard a Boeing 747-400. This puts 658 more seats per week in the air between UA's main hub and Shanghai's Pu Dong International Airport.
San Francisco (SFO) to Frankfurt (FRA) is a logical leap for United. SFO is its prime West Coast gateway, and Frankfurt is Star Alliance partner Lufthansa's main hub. From FRA, LH (that's the airline's code) offers extraordinary connections throughout the world, especially to Europe and the Middle East.
United will fly the San Francisco to Frankfurt run beginning April 24, 2007, using a twin-engine Boeing 777.
